To make it, I used Adlib Tracker 2 for my favorite sound chip, the OPL3/YMF262, commonly used in the last few FM SoundBlaster cards before wavetable synthesis took over.

For inspiration, I looked to a lot of other music that was made with this chip, however i noticed the drums were always weak and never sounded quite forceful enough. I also took into account one of my favorite songs on the genesis, the final boss theme from sonic 3 (I took A LOT of inspiration from this one).

As far as the composition itself: I really tried to be expressive of who my character is, and so that is why i made the choice to have the little square wave section in the middle. It acts as a retelling of the story but with no words, going to a major key and bringing a bright melody in that slowly turns minor and brings it back to the main theme, to make the listener feel that hope that Chamelo once had before all was lost.

He is a Chameleon who is missing his tail (standing on his rear legs as a human would). He isn't wearing much in the way of armor, opting to let his scales show as much as possible to take advantage of his powers. He does, however, wear a suit specially made by a wizard that will change colors with his scales. This is where he keeps his boomerang, in an outer pocket.

Chamelo is a mysterious person. He seems calm but you do not want to be on his bad side, as he will make sure you learn your lesson.

He is the last of his kind. His people were wiped out by an invading army, the Gaed, in hopes of taking over his planet. While he was fighting back against this army, his tail was chopped off and he was forced to endure the pain while he fought bravely. After the battle, he returned to his village to find the dead bodies of his wife and 2 daughters, all slain at the hands of these monsters. Overcome with rage, he stole a Gaed ship and departed, and knew he was the only hope of his people. As he was on his way to the nearest resistance outpost, he was informed of a mysterious fighting tournament, in which the winner would get any wish granted.

The defeat of his enemies (the Gaed Army), and the revival/rebuilding of his people.
