The song's structure and odd time signatures reflects Icarus' struggle at learning how to fly. He manages to ascend towards the sun once, which is the first epic, redundant part, but he goes down minding Daedalus' advice. Then, he soars again, uneasily (hence the compound time signatures), resulting in his wax wings being melted, and drowns into the sea.
