about

My inspirations for these songs and the style is all the folks I look up to that perform shows with just Gameboys. Ever since I saw someone get on a stage and rock out with just an old handheld I was amazed. I played in bands, and the challenge of composing songs on a piece of hardware that was so tiny with nothing but a cable running into a PA, and no guitar chops to protect me is something I have wanted to do for ages.

And of course video games. I remember when games used to have the "sound test" function in the option menu. I remember being 9 or 10 and just sitting and listening to every single track of an NES or Genesis game. When I found out I could compose my own songs on old consoles, I was in.

I've been playing with LSDJ for a few years. Only got my first Gameboy and cart a year ago. These two tracks are the most recent fully fleshed out songs I've made on the Gameboy so far. It's a culmination of all the tricks I have learned. They were made on the Gameboy with LSDJ - one song uses two Gameboys and a link cable.

------

TRASHCAT is a humanoid opossum. Cute at first, until you see their gnarly hairless tail, and a mouth full of sharp teeth. Sometimes clothed in black denim, Hawaiian shirts, or nothing at all.

TRASHCAT is an interplanetary bounty hunter from a planet inhabited by other humanoid marsupials. TRASHCAT currently resides on a planet not unlike modern day Earth. While chasing their home planet's most notorious criminal, an ambush was set, causing their ship to crash. The humans of this planet gave T-CAT their name after being sighted digging through trash for food. T-CAT began working as a superhero on this planet. As a result, the people of this Earth began loving opossums more. T-CAT loves all genres of music, video games, digging through trash, old Eastman and Laird comics (you know which ones) and currently lives on the outskirts of a landfill in their aptly named Fort Garbage with a large family of regular opossums who can often be sighted doing chores, and keeping the main residence tidy. Gotta keep all that trash tidy.

------

What is your OC fighting for?

T-CAT fights for a chance at returning to their home planet, but maybe the real reason they fought was for the friends they made along the way.
