about

Inspired by the many unfinished works and stories, abandoned by their creators through means outside their own control, that seem to take on a life of their own. Inspired also, in part, by Porter Robinson's "Worlds", which Amaxon and I both adore.

Credit to Amaxon for co-design, the original digital drawing, and artistic realization of our character, Cirrus, as well as developing her written bio. [I have included this image file (with transparency) in the .zip, and it's free to use in any way you'd like, whether she's redrawn or you'd like to use the original illustration! We would love that.]

Track made with FL Studio.
Special thanks to the birds of Woburn, Massachusetts and Northfield, New Jersey (including Topaz!) for lending their vocal talents to the project.
For two birds in particular: Dedicated to the late Sapphire by his brother, Topaz. You're forever in our hearts. <3

------

Cirrus doesn’t have a concrete physical form. She does not exist in three dimensions. She embodies the concept of character creation and what exists before a physical product is realized. The most fitting way to represent what Cirrus looks like strictly speaking is by sketching character concept structure lines. Cirrus’s originally intended design was inspired by iridescent cirrus clouds — her essence is ethereal and multicolored. Her skin is iridescent, her hair is white, and her clothing communicates a sky-goddess elegance. She uses a color guard flag as a weapon and tool to present to spectators what her creator envisioned for her appearance. Without her flag, you cannot view her physical form. Although her flag can communicate what she looks like, Cirrus’s concept design is unfinished, so she and her world appears imperfect and “glitched” to the viewer.

Cirrus is from an incomplete and corrupted sky world due to the sudden loss of consciousness from her concept designer. Her intended role as a video game character was a warrior for her nation’s color guard. She does not understand why her universe is falling apart, and she acts on impulse to salvage her homeland and realize her identity. Despite her pretty and soft “appearance”, she is very unstable and emotionally vulnerable. Her obsessive contemplation of her own existence and validity of her universe are what fuel her desire to break through to a more stable or “physical” universe.

------

What is your OC fighting for?

Cirrus is fighting for the stability of her universe, by any means necessary. Any battle taking place involving Cirrus does not exist in three-dimensional reality but in the unconscious dream-state of her rivals. Cirrus cannot do physical damage with her own flesh, but she can inflict damage with her trans-dimensional flag. She also has the ability to harvest aspects of others’ dreams and patch them into her real world if they fit her creator’s vision. Ultimately, though, her existence is hanging by the thread of her comatose concept designer. Her one true wish is to exist in complete composition.
